Happy reading!
I don’t know about you, but I only find time for serious reading when I’m on holiday. Here are some of the books I’m looking forward to exploring during the Christmas break.
Servant Leadership Across Cultures
Fons Trompenaars and Ed Voerman
Books by the intercultural guru and prolific author Fons Trompenaars are always a good read. I like the idea that the leader serves the employees.
Managing Cultural Dynamics
Jitske Kramer
I met Jitske at the conference on High Performing International Teams in York, UK, in the autumn and was impressed by her approach. Her ideas deserve to be recognized beyond her native Holland and I was pleased to see her chatting to Fons Trompenaars about possible cooperation.
Fifty Ways to Improve Your Intercultural Skills
Bob Dignen with James Chamberlain
Regular readers of Business Spotlight will be no strangers to Bob Dignen. His latest book is a very useful introduction to the interface between language and culture. It looks good.
Verstehen sich Deutsche und Amerikaner?
John Otto Magee
This book also looks interesting and fits wonderfully to the lead article in the current issue of Business Spotlight, but I’m concerned it might be a bit one-sided as the book is in German. Don’t the Americans need to understand the Germans too?
Fish und Fritz: Als Deutscher auf der Insel
Wolfgang Koydl
A promisingly witty book by the London correspondent of the Süddeutsche Zeitung about Britain.
There is definitely a feast of intercultural reading out there.
I’d just like to wish you...
Happy reading
