Using bullet points
Aufzählungen, die mit bestimmten Zeichen wie z.B. Punkten gekennzeichnet werden, machen ein Bewerbungsschreiben auf Englisch übersichtlich. Doch muss man darauf achten, dass sie in einem einheitlichen Stil geschrieben sind.
Here's an example of a covering letter that uses bullet points in the body. If you try this style in your next job application make sure that your bullet points have the same grammar structure throughout. In this example, we use "noun ending in 'ion' + 'of'". You could also use the past simple tense:
*organized travel arrangements for international partners and clients;
*translated correspondence, agendas and minutes from meetings;
*prepared presentations using standard software applications.
However, changing "communication" to "communicated in German and English" sounds unnatural. Something more appropriate would be: "communicated daily in German and English". This is why the version with the nouns is preferable. Which works best to describe your experience?

Julia Weimar Ms Nancy Kensington 7 March 2005 Dear Ms Kensington Thank you for taking the time on the telephone to tell me about the administrative assistant position at your company. After learning more about what the job entails, I would like to submit my application for the position. You will see from the enclosed CV that my main strengths are in the following areas:
I am presently working as a bilingual secretary in the administrative office at IMG Semiconductor GmbH in Berlin. While the international atmosphere there is stimulating, I feel that I am qualified to take on additional responsibilities such as the ones you mentioned. I am confident that I could manage your office operations efficiently. I shall contact you next Monday morning to see whether we can arrange a time to meet personally to discuss employment opportunities. Yours sincerely, Julia Weimar Enclosure |
