Ein Engländer und sein deutscher Chef geraten aneinander. Welche kulturellen Unterschiede werden deutlich? Was würden Sie den beiden raten?
Sylvia Schroll-Machl, a specialist in cultural differences, has looked at how different cultures see Germans. In her recent book, Doing Business with Germans: Their Perception, Our Perception, she describes some key features of German culture:
- Task orientation
- Belief in structures and rules
- Regulated control
- Time planning
- Division of private and public sphere
- Low-context communication style
- Individualism
How individuals from outside Germany experience these features will depend on what country they come from. The following case study provides an example of one Englishman’s experience of working in Germany.
