Create your own dictation tests! First, choose three expressions from our Word of the Day archive. If you've registered as a member of Business Spotlight Premium, you can bookmark the words in your "MyBusiness" folder. You can also simply print out a copy of the text — or save the printout on your computer using the links on the right of the words (see below).
Now, download the MP3 files of each expression and transfer them to your MP3 player or your mobile phone. It's best to create a playlist for the three words so you can find them more easily. Listen to the playlist a few times during the day. In the evening, write down the example sentences and the definitions — before you listen to the files again. Then, listen to the files. Correct any mistakes you have made — and then check your spellings by comparing your versions with the originals. How did you do? If you made mistakes, repeat the same activity with the same words another day. If you didn't, download some new words to learn. If you think three aren't enough — try more. For ready-made dictation exercises using our Words of the Day, see our series of tests on MBA vocabulary for the GMAT. |
