Focus on grammar Whenever I asked my students what they wanted to focus on in our lessons, many said grammar — partly because they had learned in school that anything less than perfect sentences was unacceptable. Were they right to want more grammar? In the real world of business, sentences are often ungrammatical — even the ones spoken by native speakers of English. So, does this mean we should ignore grammar rules? No, I'm sorry it doesn't! Having the right vocabulary at our fingertips is far more important than the right grammatical structure, but using the right grammatical structure will make your message clearer and more stylish. Make a good impression by spending a few minutes this week on completing some of our grammar exercises. You can learn from the mistakes you make — if you do — as we provide you with the main rules for each grammar topic at the end of the exercise.
