I found a mistake!
11.12.2008
Ian McMaster gives tips on how to point out mistakes in The Write Way (Business Spotlight, 1/2009). Our short exercise tests your knowledge of useful expressions for this difficult task. We do not recommend that you use all of them in one e-mail, just the appropriate ones.

Hello there,
I like this kind of tests, but you have a lot of mistakes here.
The result doesn´t considers the choisen options.
For example, Question 8, I chosed "as If" but the result considers "if".
I hope I could explain the mistake.
Thanks
Thank you for your feedback.
We have checked the test again and cannot find any mistakes. We think that you probably wanted to choose "as if" but left "if" in the answer box. We suggest that you read through your answers again before you click the "Get your results" box.
You say that we have a lot of mistakes, but only mention one. Did you really find more?
We hope not.

Hello, Ms Capras,
to the user before: I think the user scrolled with the wheel on the mouse too fast and that is why the answer in the drop-down box was changed. Only in the quiz "Obama's dream team" (the author is unknown) the answers with the British spelling are marked as wrong. But the explanation follows, so it is not that bad.
Another issue: Would it be possible to create these test as downloads, too? Something like a multiple choice, where on the one side there would be the tasks to do and on the other the results?
Thank you and wish you a nice week
Thank you for your suggestion. The tests aren't available as a download at the moment. We feel it's best to do these kinds of tests online.

I just wanted to stop and say:
You do a fantastic job!
I know the workload hiding behind online stuff like this as it is part of my job, too! Just keep on with that great work and I hope to listen, read and hear from you a very long future time.
If possible and not too much of a demand it would be great if you could do alittle more on typical pitfalls for Germans concerning translation. I think, your issues are also very much appreciated with people who need to do translation tasks from all fields of activity.
Many thanks

We do have a regular section in our magazine on false friends and tricky translations, but at the moment we don't have any exercises online. We will be adding some exercises to our Language & Skills section of the website. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi,
there is maybe some problem in the following sentence:
"Again, it make the criticism less direct"
I found it among the explanations of the test results.
It makes me really wonder..
Kind regards,
Stefanie
It should, of course, be "it makes". We've changed it.
Thanks for pointing it out.
Have a good evening.
