Problems?

Don't panic!
You're making an important telephone call, but you're starting to run into language problems. Don't panic — we'll tell you what to say when things start to go wrong.
If you can't hear the caller:
- "Could you speak up a bit, please?"
- "Could you speak a little louder, please?"
- "I'm afraid I didn't quite catch that."
- "I'm afraid I can't hear you very well. Could you say that again, please?"
TIP: By adding "a bit", "a little", "quite" or "very well", as we have above, you soften your request and sound more polite.
- "I'm sorry, but I don't understand the word 'muggle'. What does it mean?"
- "I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean. Could you repeat that?"
- "I'm afraid I don't follow you exactly. Could you explain that to me again, please?"
Now, try the exercise!
