News readers for RSS
Web tools you can use to use to improve your language-learning skills.
Recently, little orange boxes with the abbreviation “RSS” have been appearing on our website. RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication”. These show that a “news feed” is available. This is a way for websites to alert users to new content — and for users to access that content. Your browser probably has built-in news reader, or you can use one of many available on the Web, such as Google Reader, iGoogle or My Yahoo!.
First, choose a reader.

If you use Windows, choose from the following:
Click on the orange boxes on our website to subscribe to the feeds, or paste the news feed into your preferred reader. This will save you time, since you can scan the headlines and article summaries from many websites at the same time. If you decide you want to continue reading an item, click on it, and go to the site. It’s really as simple as that.
TIP! Once you’ve subscribed to a number of items from your favourite sites, including German ones, you can start your surfing from your tailored news reader. By combining feeds from different kinds of sites, you’ll integrate language learning nto your daily routine. You can use your news reader to remind you to learn English. If you see that we’ve updated our exercises, stories or blogs, just click on the link to start reading — and learning.
