Advertising for the presidency
Advertising is everywhere. Presidential candidates use it. Even business English teachers or writers of language material can’t really avoid advertising for companies, products or services. To make my lessons or exercises more interesting, authentic or fun, I usually refer to real companies, products or services. So am I advertising for them for free?
For example, many of the expressions in our exercise could be used to talk about the US presidential election campaigns. Does this mean I’m trying to get support for one particular candidate? Well, I don’t think it matters too much. I’m not an American citizen, and you probably aren’t either, so we won’t be voting. And if you are, I hope you’re not so easily influenced in your choice of president by a language exercise!
I’ll try not to advertise for one particular candidate or party. Instead, I’ll introduce some new expressions.
