If you find the rules about income tax a little confusing, don't worry, you're in good company. Even Albert Einstein had problems with them, once commenting that "the hardest thing in the world to understand is income tax". Trying to understand a balance sheet must come a very close second, followed even closer by keeping track of economic trends.
Fortunately, most people don't have to know the ins and outs of every single income tax rule as well as every item on the balance sheet, but most business people should be able to understand the basics and talk about them in English.
