Erica Gingerich: It’s time for some Grammar. Today, we’ll look at various uses of the verb “should”. Here, we’d like to test your knowledge of this useful verb. We’ll give you a German sentence, and after the tone, you translate it into English using the word “should”. Ready?
Du solltest nicht mehr darüber nachdenken.
You shouldn’t think about it any more.
Wir dürften bald fertig sein.
We should be finished soon.
Ich würde mir darüber keine Sorgen machen.
I shouldn’t worry about that.
Du solltest um eine Beförderung bitten.
You should ask for a promotion.
