In sports, the ball is out of bounds when it goes outside the line which marks the boundary of the playing field (im Aus):

"She kicked the ball far too hard and it flew out of bounds."

If an area is out of bounds it is not to be entered by certain groups of people (gesperrt, nicht zugänglich):

"The backstage area is out of bounds to the general public."

völlig unangebracht
Wut

Spielfeld
