The correct answer is: act

"Let's hope Ireland can get its act together to beat France and qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2010."

If you get your act together, you organize yourself in such a way that you can achieve something.

get one's act together = die Sache im Griff haben

The Irish team have not been too successful in the qualifying rounds for the FIFA World Cup 2010. They won only four out of their ten matches in their group (against Cyprus and Georgia). They have, however, made it through to the play-offs, but they were hoping to face an easier opponent, such as Greece. They will have to get their act together to beat France.
