The correct answer is: water

Your argument doesn't hold ___. It's totally wrong and unreasonable!

If an argument does not hold water, it cannot be true or it is not reasonable.

If you strongly believe that somebody is making a bad argument in favour or against something, you can tell that person that the argument does not hold water. We also say that an excuse, a story or a claim doesn't hold water.

"His claim that he was ill just doesn't hold water."
