What is a podcast?

A podcast is similar to a radio show, except it's in the form of a computer file that you download off the Internet and can listen to when you want. You can play the podcast on your computer or on a portable digital music player.

Why would I want to listen to Business Spotlight podcasts?

Business Spotlight podcasts are written and produced by the same people who bring you Business Spotlight, Business Spotlight plus and Business Spotlight Audio. We guarantee our podcasts will be of the same high quality as our other products and that they will be an entertaining language-learning resource.

How do I subscribe to a podcast?

If you subscribe, the new podcasts will be automatically downloaded to your computer ever time we update the podcast. That way, you won’t miss any.

There are three steps to subscribing:

1. Get the podcast software

You need to install some software that will automatically find the latest podcast and download it onto your computer. This software is usually free. We like these two:

• Juice

2. Subscribe to the podcast

When you have installed the software you can subscribe to our podcast.

How you do this will depend on the type of software you have. Here is a one way that usually works with most types of software: You need to add the "feed" of the podcast to your software. The feed is the address of the podcast, which the software will go to each time it wants to check for a new podcast.

The Business Spotlight feed:

You will need to copy this feed address and paste it into your podcast software. How you do this will depend on your software, but you should find a button or link that says "Add" or "Subscribe".

3. Listen to the audio

When a new episode becomes available for the podcast you have subscribed to, your software will automatically download it. You can then listen to this episode on your computer or transfer it to your portable player to listen to later.

Can I just download one podcast?

Yes, if you are a Premium member. On the transcript page of each podcast, click on the link and save the file to a place on your computer that's easy to remember (create a folder “BSPodcasts”).

Once you've download the podcast, find the file on your computer and click on it to play. (If the software program used to play the podcast doesn't seem to work, right click on the podcast file, choose "open with" and select a different media player.) Make sure you have a media player installed.
