What's the big idea?

The word “big” has good and bad connotations. When I hear "big", I think of “brother”, as in George Orwell's 1948 dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. David Cameron, the British prime minister, would like me to think of something else.

Britain turns blue

The British people have voted. And the morning after, we are still not sure what they want. Maybe the British people themselves don't know. But one thing is certain: David Cameron will be Britain's next prime minister.

Gordon, going, gone

They’re changing the guard at Buckingham Palace. Well, not at Buckingham Place, to be precise, but rather at 10 Downing Street. Britain will soon have a new prime minister. Bye, bye, Gordon Brown.
