Procedure
- Outline the role of discourse markers to your student, using examples from page 85.
- Choose a listening activity on the Business Spotlight Audio, which has examples of discourse markers (for example, in The Maine Event). The student listens to the recording and notes any discourse markers. Assign the article on page 85 as homework.
- During the next class, your student should ask you an open question concerning the lesson’s topic and note down any discourse markers you use during your reply. Give feedback and then ask the student a similar question. Make notes on the use of discourse markers and give feedback.
