Procedure
- Brainstorm innovations and the countries in which they originated. Collate both the innovations and their countries of origin on the board.
- Ask your participants why they think some countries are more innovative than others. Is it related to the climate, the level of education, the natural resources, the wealth of the nation, the political system or something else?
- Read the text “Peaceful times” on page 92 and discuss the relevance of Orson Welles’s observation.
