A new series by onestopenglish
We’re expanding our Teachers’ Zone online to include one additional lesson plan per month based on the current issue of Business Spotlight. From 8 September, subscribers to Business Spotlight can download Business Spotlight lesson plans, a new monthly series created by onestopenglish.
The series includes detailed tips and guidelines on how to use our magazine articles in the classroom, as well as worksheets, role plays and vocabulary-building exercises. Business Spotlight lesson plans will be available as a PDF in the Premium area of the Teachers’ zone of Business Spotlight Online at www.business-spotlight.de/teachers-zone/activities and also in the onestopenglish staff room at www.onestopenglish.com.
Karen Richardson, author of the Business Spotlight lesson plans, has written a comprehensive overview of the series, along with hints and tips on how best to exploit these lessons in the classroom. Read her introduction to the series here.
The first complete lesson is available here to everyone.
After logging in, subscribers to Business Spotlight can download more lesson plans on the next pages. The latest one, "Emotional roller coaster", is a lesson plan for both pre-experience and in-work business students is based around an original article first published in Business Spotlight Issue 4/2010. The article discusses making difficult business decisions and suggests reasons why a situation may seem more difficult than it really is. It then looks in some detail at the personal conflicts two managers faced as they took the most difficult management decisions of their careers.
In addition, Business Spotlight in the classroom subscribers are invited to access Macmillan’s onestopenglish Staff Room (www.onestopenglish.com ) at 20 per cent off the normal £36 annual subscription price. The code can be found on the next page, after logging in to the Premium area of our website.
