    Transcript: Dialogue

Presenter: Henry is taking part in a meeting with some potential customers together with Lucy, his boss. Lucy suggests that they start the meeting by going around the table and introducing themselves. After the customers have said who they are, it’s Henry’s turn. He will use the five words and expressions that we’ve just heard.

Lucy: Thank you for those introductions from your side. Henry, perhaps you could just say a few words about yourself now.

Henry: Sure, I’m Henry, Henry Dalton. I’m responsible for our sales to the North American region. Most of my 20 years’ experience has been in sales. But I did spend a couple of years as a purchaser. Recently, I’ve been concerned with adapting our products to the new regulatory systems. It’s been quite a challenge. It was only last week we heard that our new product line has fulfilled the requirements of the American authorities. All of us here breathed a huge sigh of relief. Now, I can immerse myself in the task of making those products known. This means introducing them to our customers. And, of course, that’s why I’m here in this meeting. On the personal side, I’m married with two kids and I try to keep fit, rather unsuccessfully, by jogging three times a week.

Lucy: Thanks, Henry. Henry has been one of our area sales managers for about ten years now.
