    Transcript: Useful phrases for public speaking

    In this next exercise, we’ll practise some useful phrases for making a short speech. First, you will hear a phrase. In the pause, repeat this phrase. Try to copy the speaker’s intonation.

    We’ll start with some phrases to help you organize the contents of your speech. Ready? Here’s the first one. Listen and repeat.

    • I’d like to take this opportunity to say a few words.
